judge sentenceing sand of you thinky to a minimum of 30 years in prison after five counsels of child sex abuse. >> i believe the sentence was a wise one and reflects the serious crimes. the need to remove him from society. >> reporter: before being sentenced, sandusky was classified a sexual violent predator and made a statement to the judge asserting his innocence again. >> the bottom line, jerry never fringed from his position that he was innocent and that he wanted to prove his innocence and not entertain any plea offer. that is from 2008-2009, the first accusations. >> reporter: a number of sandusky's victims spoke at the sentenceing, describing how the serious changeed their lives forever. sandusky was convicted in june of abusing 10 boys over a period of 15 years and some attacks occurred inside the athletic facilities. and there -- played over at

was killed by friendly fire instead of an armed smuggler. people who don't like the radical muslim ads in the subway system came with a message of their own. that were put up last month after the executive director sued the metropolitan octoberrority to be allowed to display them and to be in d.c.'s metro station. the christian group called the sojourners are putting up their own ads in new york. >> we're putting up these ads that say love your muslim neighbors. this is what we're finding. when you remind people of our obligations to each other, it brings out the best in people. yes, yes. when you have hate language, it brings out the worst in people. >> several of the antiradical muslim ads were torn down. still ahead here, frustrated in d.c. traffic.

. the head of lockheed martin is under fire after he's accused of knocking down a number of threes -- trees on his property. last month, montgomery county fined robert stevens $500. the property sits on protected land at the national park service overseas. he said he cut down some of the trees because they were in danger of falling after the storm in june. he's promising to restore the land. and that is not the place you so a car, but someone

to things that happened 20 years ago when one more -- when more traditional views, conservative views within the church reacted against the '60s. and this is now a sort of a count reaction. i really see three major elements that play a role into the results. the first is actually a mere factual observation and that is that christian families be, being either protestants or catholics because we're beat christians, they don't make as many babies as they used to. of course, the percentage is changes and it changes from generation to generation. sec, it's also the continuous growth of individualism. in modern societies, people come to think think that they don't need a new one. i can decide what i do. if i want to die tomorrow, that is my right. if i want to do this, god will

take care of me. i don't need a mediator and that is a sec, what i think, importance aspect that plays a role and people tend to associate institutions with politics. i use the term in this country because i myself come from western europe and there is a similar tendency there but i see major differences and that was a concern of people who -- being actually scared that christians in america would follow the same as in europe that ultimately led to a decline of people going to the church. >> do you find that on and i find it anecdoteally, people call themselves spiritual but

evening. 64 degrees, quite a surprise, considering how much cloud cover there was. and still below average, dallas, 62; bwi marshal, 61 degrees and some temperatures are heading down and we're going to lose the sunshine here soon as the sun is going down earlier and earlier. while i won't describe tonight as cold, we continue to have some freeze warnings in the mountains overnight for temperatures near the 32 degrees mark. >> boston, 55 degrees and d.c. is 62. another re-enforcing shot of cooler air is on the weather map and ahead of it, warming up. we'll have the clouds here and clearing during the day tomorrow and this boundary comes through and all indications on the dry side and may have some breaks in the clouds overnight and that can

[ female announcer ] but this is what the budget plan mitt romney supports actually does. more huge tax breaks skewed to the wealthy. while cutting nearly eight hundred billion from medicaid... even though middle-class families rely on medicaid to help loved ones cover nursing-home care. and it helps parents support children with disabilities. if mitt romney really "cares," wouldn't we see it in his priorities?
